- Do you take children?
Modus Care provide a service for adults between 18-65 years old with Autism, Aspergers and other associated Mental Health needs. We do, on occasion take children who are 17 and soon to be 18. If
you are looking for more advice on managing the transition from Child
to Adult, please see the section dedicated to this on our website.
- Do you provide Respite Care?
Due to the in-depth process which is necessary prior to admission we are unable to offer a Respite Care Services at this time.
- How much are your services?
Here at Modus Care
we pride ourselves in being thorough in all of our processes from Service
Needs Assessments to ensuring each individual has the correct care and
treatment plans in place specific to their needs. Therefore, we are unable to give exact costings of our services as each individual case is different.
- Where are your Services?
We currently have Hospital, Residential and Specialist Units in Devon and Torbay and Surrey (Sutton and Kingswood).
- What Services do you provide?
Modus Care is an
independent service provider specialising in services for those with
Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs. Modus
Care provide Residential and small hospital facilities for adults
(18-65) as well as individually tailored service solutions, e.g. single
person services.
- What is Autism?
Autism is a brain development disorder
that impairs social interaction and communication, and causes
restricted and repetitive behaviour, all starting before a child is
three years old. This set of signs distinguishes autism from milder autism spectrum disorders (ASD) such as Asperger Syndrome.
- What is Asperger Syndrome?
Asperger Syndrome is one of several autism spectrum disorders (ASD) characterised by difficulties in social interaction and by restricted stereotyped interests and activities. It is distinguished from the other ASDs by having no general delay in language or cognitive development. Although not mentioned in standard diagnostic criteria, motor clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported.
- Do you take Emergency Admissions?
No we don't. We recognise that there will always be a demand to seek a quick admission due to breakdown of service etc and we will do our best to respond as quickly as possible to any request. However the success of the placement will be dependent on ensuring that through a detailed assessment, we have in place at the time of admission, a transition plan, care plan, appropriate and suitably skilled and qualified staff and a proper environment along with any other identified resources.
- How long does the process take?
We will always respond as quickly as possible to any request for an assessment. Our assessment process generally takes 1 to 2 weeks and will result in the production of a ‘Service Needs Assessment’ report and ‘Individual Service Proposal’ plan.
- What is the criteria for admission to a Modus Hospital/Residential Service?
The person being referred must have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or associated condition e.g. Autistic Traits etc, and/or Mental Health needs.
- Can you take people who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007)?
Yes we can. The Hospital services at Penhayes and Westbrooke Grange are registered to admit individuals who are detained under the Mental Health Act or who may be liable to be detained under the Mental Health Act.
